Starlink

Starlink is a new wireless Internet service based on a low orbit satellite constellation. It is gaining popularity at a fast pace with its coverage increasing day by day. Starlink is a great option when bonded with 4G or 5G connections, as it offers up to 200Mbps throughput and is not affected by regional network congestion as 4G and 5G do. If higher throughput is required and no other Internet access technologies are available, you may bond multiple Starlink connections with comBOX VIrtual Leased Line services and also take advantage of the advanced TCP acceleration and bandwidth management features, allowing reliable high throughput Virtual Leased Lines in rural areas.

5G is the new wireless mobile access technology and is replacing 4G networks at a fast pace globally. 5G offers even higher speeds than 4G (LTE) that can reach up to 10 Gbps throughput. The main issue with 5G connections is the speed fluctuations and the connection’s reliability, especially in congested areas. VDSL / ADSL

4G (LTE)

4G (LTE) is the leading wireless access technology for mobile operators. The basic LTE category allows up to 150Mbps throughput with higher LTE categories reaching 600Mbps. Such connections offer a great option to deploy high speed Virtual Leased Lines in remote areas not covered by fixed connections, and can offer a reliable, mobile connectivity solution for media broadcasters that require high upload bandwidth and lossless data transmission. Fibre broadband (FFTH)

Wifi links

Wifi links is an internet solution used mostly in marinas around the world. The incoming yachts anchoring to the marina often benefit from free, or low cost, Wifi links provided locally. The provided download speed is limited to a few Mbps with an even lower upload, and often is a problem for 2 or more concurrent users. Bonding this Wifi link with a 4G/5G connection and/or a Starlink service using comBOX Virtual Leased Line technology, you can reach over 100Mbps throughput on-the-go.

VSAT

VSAT (very small aperture terminal) can be described as the predecessor of Starlink. This technology uses satellites placed into geostationary orbit and redirects signals to hub stations on the ground which are connected to the Internet. It’s fairly cheaper than Starlink on a monthly plan basis, has a lower cost of equipment/installation and comes with higher coverage availability. The downside is a much slower bandwidth of around 5-20Mbps and limited data caps. Best use scenario is a combination of VSAT, Starlink, 4G/5G and Wifi links using the comBOX Virtual Leased Line technology for a smooth experience without downtimes and unwanted bandwidth hiccups in most extreme case scenarios.
